Wankerley

One can only hope Paul Sheehan is the last one out of the Fairfax building before the lights are turned out.

He has written an excellent piece calling local councils out for revenue raising. Notably this included Waverley and Woollahra councils , both of whose officers have booked me at least once for two different parking offences nobody I know has ever heard of.

One can only hope that with the massive swing to the Liberals, the councils will eventually get their hands out of people's back pockets and focus on what they should be doing. Roads, Rates and Rubbish, not saving the world with costly social engineering and feel good exercises.

Unfortunately, councils are addicted to fines revenue and spend the money before they've made it. It's not as simple as just firing the parking officers (or perhaps re-issuing them with brooms).
