And I, for one, welcome our new canine overlords.

Professor Bunyip reports the government's advice on reducing energy consumption by snuggling up with your pets. According to the Sydney Morning Herald:
AUSTRALIANS are being urged to play board games and snuggle up under a rug with a pet or their families to help cut power bills.
Letting your dog sleep in or on your bed, or sitting at the same level as you, such as on the couch, is considered by many dog experts as a great way to tell your canine that it is equal to or dominant to you. This can lead to disobedience, at best, or aggression in certain breeds which could lead to major problems for a household animal.

Yes, a lot of owners of dogs, particularly small ones, ignore this advice (or are simply clueless) because dogs are cute. And they're not cats. However it's a different story when the Government offers this as good advice. Wait until one of these Carbon Saving Canines bites a small kid for daring to get onto the couch.

Well it does work. The Eskimos and Samoyeds did use sled dogs for warmth.
