IAJV BDS sign-up could be BFD

The International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network has issued a statement in support of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions initiatives against Israel. On the list of signatories are two Australians "representing" a single organisation:
  • Antony Loewenstein, Independent Australian Jewish Voices
  • Peter Slezak, Independent Australian Jewish Voices
What's the deal? IAJV has no members and no leadership so there's no way Loewenstein and Slezak should use their loose affiliation with the organisation to add cachet to their names, making it seem that IAJV approves of the BDS statement.

But hey, "Antony Loewenstein, Independent Australian Jewish Voices" expresses much more authority than does "Antony Loewenstein, wanna be journalist".

Then again, in referencing IAJV Loewenstein and Slezak have violated a guiding principle of the organisation:
Of course, we must be scrupulous in ensuring that no-one is in any way associated with a statement that they have not explicitly endorsed and there should be no implication of this kind.
Hmm, I wonder what the IAJVers think about Loewenstein and Slezak signing up to BDS on their behalf?

Let's not forget that Marrickville Council also supports the BDS.

The reason he had to add that disclaimer, is that the IAJV previously published an advertisement which alienated a large number of people who were gullible enough to sign up in the first place. They renounced their association with IAJV.

Although Loewenstein has gloated about his 'growing' movement at every opportunity, like his book sales the actual numbers tell a different story.

The IAJV at its peak had fewer than 500 'signatories', many of them not actually real (e.g. "Ben Zonar". Since then, most of them woke up to what Loewesntein is really about. Whilst I'm not that sympathetic to those who were duped having not done their homework, the fact is Loewenstein represents absolutely nobody except himself.

He hopes of course that others will think otherwise. It's funny how out of control egos work...

Don't forget that Marrickville council also supports the BDS, but also note that they are the most watermellony of The Greens. Their voter base are typical Greens - clueless inner city latte sipping Arts grad weeners.

Chistery,

I have it on good authority that Marrickville Council's boycott has terrified the Israelis, all the way up to the Prime Minister who is personally looking into the matter lest it destroy the whole Israeli economy.

But seriously, the problem with these Islamists and their leftist friends is that they have plenty of time.

Muslims bombed a Spanish train system in 2004, as payback for something which happened about 4-500 years earlier.

This BDS thing is a 10-20 year project to delegitimise the Jewish state. As the Holocaust becomes a distant memory, and it becomes palatable to be an anti-Semite again (albeit calling yourself an anti-Zionist) they will make it perfectly normal to discuss the destruction of a democratic state.

Ant has an item up on Pink Floyd icon Roger Waters (who he calls Roger Water) who is supporting the racist BDS movement. I suppose if the wall is dismantled Roger and the Marrackville council will go guarantor for the lives of any Israeli who might be harmed by the perpetrators of the Itamar massacre and their ilk?
