Pure Poison's puerile pontifications

Chuckling chums Jeremy & Dave stammer and weave through an analysis of Christmas Island-related media in this week's Pure Poison podcast – “Amazing how a bit of tragedy can light things up!" Ha ha! Jeremy’s halting summary of David Marr’s Sydney Morning Herald piece (“he’s just asking a question”) is more evasive and disingenuous than you’d ever expect, even for him. His anxious delivery betrays that he knows he’s lying.

Jeremy and Dave, the dynamic duo of intellectual dishonesty debunking, have another epic fail in accepting as factual a "great" but unspecified article describing the incarceration conditions of alleged Wikileaks source Bradley Manning, supposedly locked up in solitary confinement "without any human contact" for 23 hours a day, "medicated with anti-depressants and things to stop him going nuts" and with "no stimulus" available to him whatsoever. Yet the U.S. Army says Manning is, like other "maximum security" prisoners, held in a single cell rather than solitary confinement, allowed to converse with other prisoners and to have visitors, and has limited access to a TV.

PP boys Jeremy and Dave would do well to put more effort into verifying their material rather than trying to sound "sexy" on the internet.

Update: Manning, jailed in a manner fitting his alleged crimes, is "being tortured".

Loewenstein is such a drama queen.

"Manning is being held at Marine Corps Base Quantico, in Virginia. He spends 23 hours a day alone in a standard-sized cell, with a sink, a toilet, and a bed. He isn’t allowed sheets or a pillow, though First Lieutenant Brian Villiard, an officer at Quantico, said he is allowed bedding of “non-shreddable” material. “I’ve held it, I’ve felt it, it’s soft, I’d sleep under it,” he told The Daily Beast."

TORTURE!!! Why, it's worse than Gitmo.

Is he kidding? He's denied sheets and a pillow just like any other inmate who might use them to self-harm. He's not sleeping on a concrete floor.

As usual, Loewenstein plagiarised about 99% of his post, and the one and only bit he added himself, is just wrong. As is usually the case.

It's too bad they missed out on the olden days, when the MP cells or the Service Detention Barracks were actually rather stressful.

Cheers

Its been a year or so since I popped in here, and I only did so through Blair's link.

I can hardly believe it. The Pee Pee boys are still going? Jeremy the Juvenile is still at it? Nah; surely not? This bloke is still shitting in a plastic pot and poking it about and laughing at it. Tell me it can't be so.

And if so, our modern universities have a lot to account for.
