HICKS SENTENCED AMID NEW TORTURE CLAIMS

Lefties will be looking for something else to be sad about after Hicks's sentencing:
Australian Guantanamo detainee David Hicks will be sent home to serve nine months in prison after being sentenced by a military judge at the facility.
If he's put in the general prison population it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Oh well, there's still rampant Guantanamo torturing to fret about:
A Saudi man held in US custody for five years has told a military hearing he was tortured into confessing a role in the bombing of the USS Cole in 2000.

Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, 41, said he had faced years of torture after his arrest in 2002, a Pentagon transcript from the closed-door hearing said.

Mr Nashiri said he made up stories to satisfy his captors, the transcript said, but gave no details of torture.

He was tried in absentia in a Yemeni court in September 2004 and sentenced to death.
The US should send him home.

The AQ playbook tactic of immediately claiming torture upon capture is so well-known by now that it's surreal to see credible news organizations still lending credence to such claims.

Oh, no, wait; this one's from the BBC.
